Artist's Statement

I've been looking for a way to quit doing topical, political cartoons every week and return to the sillier stuff I used to do during peacetime, and when I came across a draft of this one in my files it seemed like a good transition. An old-fashioned fart joke--simple but timeless. (Pain aficianados will note that the President has the same crazed, desperate eyes as Vice-Prinicpal Hake in "Remember the Time When...?".) The best part of this one, of course, is the exchange between the French and German presidents. Foreign language students should not attempt to use these phrases in class or on exams.
